In this Module’s Discussion, you were introduced to the concept of an academic portfolio to begin building your own brand. However, portfolios have value that goes beyond brand building. An academic and professional portfolio can also help you to build your own vision and mission and establish your development goals. In this regard, a portfolio becomes yet another tool in your toolbox as you build your success.
In this Assignment you will continue developing your Academic Success and Professional Development Plan by developing the fifth component–a portfolio for your academic and professional efforts.

The Assignment:
Using the Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template document that you began to work on in Module 1 and have continued expanding throughout this course, you will develop a curriculum vitae (CV) in Part 5 based on your current education and professional background.
Note: Add your work for this Assignment to the original document you began in the Module 1 Assignment, which was built from the Academic Success and Professional Development Plan Template.

I have been a nurse going on 13 years. My first job was as an LPN in a Rehabilitation/ long term care facility in Glen burnie Maryland. After several years as an LPN, I decided to go back to school and become an RN. I continue my education and I obtained my master’s degree in nursing at Aspen University.TodayUniversity. He has been of great assistance to me from the first day we talked over the phone trying to get to know what the school is offering. I started the FNP program with another University. I had to drop out of the program because I had no support. From the application process to the start date Marcus was there for me. He called me very often making sure everything is on track from my finances to books. Marcus made sure I was comfortable with blackboard. Before even starting with classes I felt the support from Walden University. Making the decision to go back to school is one thing and having the support is another. Dr Obinna has been a mentor for a very long time. He gives me great adverse and tells me the truth about wrong or right decisions. When I was doing my MSN, he asked what was my next step? I wanted to go in for DNP and call it the day. While engaging with and following Dr. Obinna, I understand that critical thinking is very crucial in nursing. professional network is very important for one to succeed. The Walden University Video on the foundation of success states that the commitment for lifelong learning is crucial to the nursing profession. (Laureate Education, 2018). Latifa is a friend and a formal FNP student at Walden University. I met her at work thirteen years ago for some reason we started talking about nursing. She has always advised me to go back to school explaining the gain. At that time, I wanted to go to pharmacy school. After several years in nursing and taking my prerequisites for pharmacy school I decided to further my education in nursing. I believe Latifa will be a great support for me during this entire program. According to one Walden video it is crucial to create relationship and mentorship with student to develop a support system knowing you are not alone. (Laureate Education, 2018). Conclusion
Nursing I believe is a calling and you need to have the passion to help other people. Nursing is a rewarding career in my experience. After several years as an LPN I decided to further my education. While I was looking for schools, I decided to go with Walden University because of the support system I experienced and learned. I have been somewhere else before which the support system is not there at all. Like the Walden video said, “you cannot do it alone”. As a nurse, I aspire to grow professionally. The writing center is a platform resources that has been created in the network to aid in improving the standards of writing.
