NUR 690 Nursing Informatics Practicum Discussion
For this part of the project, you will develop a project plan that details the project timeline, activities, and resources. Write an essay (1,000–1,500 words) addressing the following:
Identify the stakeholders and project drivers.
Discuss project milestones, timeline, tasks, activities, and resources.
Discuss project methodologies and processes used in the design and management of the project.
Refer to “Nursing Informatics Practicum Project Overview,” located in Course Materials, for further information.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Path Method (CPM) What It Is: In CPM, you build a model of the project, including all the activities listed in a work breakdown structure, the duration of those tasks, what if any task dependencies there are and marking off milestones to indicated larger phases of the project or points in which your deliverables are due. With this information, you determine what is the path to finish the project with the least slack. Basically, you’re figuring out how long the tasks that make up the project will take. The critical path method was developed in the late 1950s by Morgan R. Walker of DuPont and James E. Kelley, Jr., of Remington Rand. DuPont was already using a precursor of CPM as early the the 1940s, and it was applied to the Manhattan Project. The technique starts with a list of all activities, or a work breakdown structure, the duration of each task, what dependencies there are and then mapping milestones and deliverables. When to Use It: CPM works better with smaller or mid-sized projects. The larger the project, the more difficult it can be to take all the data Critical path method The critical path method (also known as critical path analysis) is a way of identifying and scheduling all of the critical tasks that comprise your project, as well as their dependencies.NUR 690 Nursing Informatics Practicum Discussion
That means that you need to: Identify all of the essential tasks you need to do to achieve your project goal Estimate how much time each of those tasks will take (bearing in mind that certain tasks will need to be completed before others can be started) Use all of that information to schedule the “critical path” you’ll need to take in order to get the project done as quickly as possible without missing any crucial steps. The longest sequence of critical tasks becomes your critical path, and will define the timeframe for your project. Activities Meet with nursing manager of dialysis and nurses to understand their needs. (Voice of Customer (VOC)). Coordinate with Noel (Clinical Application Coordinator) to build a protype of template, test and present it to the customer (Hemodialysis nurses and Nurse manager in Dialysis) and receive feedbacks Finalize the template based on feedback with the help of Noel. Test, inspect and fix errors in final build if there is any. Present and Discuss the final template, present implementation plan to the customer and schedule implementation Template goes live and nurses start charting in the template Verify that vital signs entered in the template are also captured by vitals tracking system in CPRS without any error in correct format. Collect the feedback from customer Validate that the process is working as intended Conduct audit to find sustainability and user satisfaction Recognize the team performance in a final meeting with Noel, Hemodialysis nurse manager and Hemodialysis nurses.
