Health Promotion Paper

Introduction

Health is the complete mental, social, and physical well-being state and not just the absence of infirmity or disease. Health promotion can be defined as helping individuals to gain more Addressing control over their health and its improvement. Nurses play a great part in health promotion activities. Public health in nursing aims at providing health promotion to the population.  This involves the different ways in which health information is distributed to the public on the different ways of how to protect themselves from the various health challenges. Public health nurse partners and collaborates with the population and community to deal with any health obstacles. All nurses should know the great role health promotion plays to ensure patients’ well-being.

Through health promotion practices, nurses provide the patients with the information required to manage and improve their health. The work environment of the nurses makes it easier to educate the patients by taking advantage of their continuous interactions. Providing patients with correct information while advocating a healthy lifestyle as an addition can enable them to get better control of their health (Kemppainen, Tossavainen, & Turunen, 2013). Health promotion also has excellent effects on healthcare costs. In the cases where the industry focuses on the shortage of staff in healthcare centers and reducing costs, having valid health promotion can help shorten the number of times one needs to seek treatment.

Health promotion places great focus on addressing issues of health rather than lecturing the patients and other people on the habits that negatively affect their health. Most of the time, individuals are aware of the health practices they should embrace or stop. On the other hand, health promotion ensures the accessibility of resources that are required to improve healthy behaviors (Kemppainen, Tossavainen, & Turunen, 2013). Nurses advocate for changes in society, which reduce resource scarcity, which prevents health promotion. Capella University Public Health Nurses Informative Essay Outline

Nurses also utilize health websites to enhance health promotion (Haber, 2019). Such websites are perceived to have information about different infections and how to prevent them. Through such websites, the different aspects concerning a given health problem are addressed exclusively. This involves information about the main causes of the information, how the infection is conducted, the symptoms associated with the infection and the group of individuals who are considered to be vulnerable to the infections. Also, the treatment available for the infections and the preventive measures associated with the infection are also addressed. Such information enables the public to be vigilant of the different health care challenges they are exposed to, how to identify it and the various ways in which to manage it. This aspect plays a great role in promoting the health care.

Conclusion

Health promotion helps in improving the health status of families, individuals, states, as well as the nation. This involves the dissemination of healthcare information to the public either through the word of mouth or through written information to keep them vigilant of the different healthcare challenges they might face.  Through health promotion, the quality of life is enhanced, reducing premature deaths. Preventing diseases help in cost reduction for individuals, insurance companies, and any other parties which may be involved in medical treatment. This makes health promotion very important in nursing.
