It is defined based on three dimensions. These include emotional exhaustion, reduced sense of personal accomplishment and depersonalization (Eltaybani et al., 2021). The stressors include long shift hours, lack of sleep, overambitious expectations, and caring for critically ill patients with poor health outcomes. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized burnout syndrome as a crucial occupational phenomenon, especially among nurses in critical care (Woo et al., 2020). Furthermore, the recent pandemic created a greater demand for registered nurses, while the shortage of nurses meant that the available workforce was overworked. Burnout among healthcare workers has negative consequences, majorly on patient care and safety, including increased medical errors and amplified chances of developing nosocomial infections (Jun et al., 2021). Chronic nursing-related stress is an antecedent for burnout syndrome among nurses. This leads to poor mental and physical health outcomes for the nurses. This impairs their cognitive functions and increases the chances of developing chronic diseases such as heart disease, insomnia, sleep disturbance, type 2 diabetes, and fertility problems (Murthy, 2022). The average age for registered nurses is 41.5 years. This means that most of them have family engagements and personal life. Burnout syndrome challenges their family life and sometimes leads to family breakups. The intervention includes incorporating a mental well-being course within the curriculum of all nurses in addition to their regular studies. This will equip them with the knowledge and skills to navigate nursing practice and efficaciously deal with stressors and emotional challenges throughout their practice. Foremost, nursing students need to be trained on the importance of 3 healthy mental well-being and how nursing practice can challenge it. In addition, the most critical part of the training will be self-management and how best students and nurses can contribute to their mental health through self-care measures. The intervention strategy should also be designed to equip students with the skills to recognize signs of burnout syndrome. This will be important to alleviate the problem before it escalates to an overwhelming stage of depression. The federal government has been tirelessly working to deal with occupational burnout, especially among medical practitioners. Earlier this year, congress passed a bill to support healthcare workers distressed from burnout. This incorporates suicide, behavioral, and mental health issues among healthcare workers. This bill intends to provide mental health services to all nurse practitioners. Furthermore, the house of representatives passed The Build Back Better Act in 2021. This bill mainly targets the nursing workforce. It provides for the creation and modernization of education programs and revision of the curriculum in nursing schools. This should be advanced to incorporate training programs for on-campus mental well-being courses to assist the nurses in dealing with burnout syndrome in the workplace. Health equity can only be achieved when all medical professionals have an equal chance to be as healthy as possible. This includes decreasing the risk factors for stress, depression, and burnout in the workplace. This includes equipping the nurses with the necessary skills to deal with the underlying causes of their poor health by understanding they can deal with burnout issues. Equity can be promoted by ensuring equal labor division and shorter shifts for nursing staff. This will be imperative in guaranteeing job satisfaction among registered nursing staff. Additionally, providing insurance covers and health benefits to nurses affected by workplacerelated burnout will ensure that all healthcare workers can access psychological help. 4 There have been various attempts in the past to resolve the problem of burnout among healthcare workers. Psychosocial training for nurses has been observed to adequately reduce burnout rates among practicing healthcare workers. Nurses are equipped with a broad range of skills in dealing with mental health problems, including seeking specialized care. Additionally, psychiatry interventions have promoted self-care among nurses, significantly reducing burnout rates. This includes interventions such as meditation and yoga. Moreover, improving workplace communication skills and enhancing motivation programs positively impact reducing burnout and improving the mental health of Registered Nurses. As compared to these secondary interventions, on-campus physical and well-being courses is a primary intervention that seeks to address the root causes of burnout among healthcare professionals. This is because it will equip students in nursing learning institutions with the skills and ability to deal with work stressors. The outcomes expected are a drop in the rates of burnout in the workplace once these students start practicing. In addition, the quality of care delivery is expected to improve since the graduate nurses will have better self-care practices, job satisfaction, and higher productivity. The strategy will work to decrease the degree of mental health problems, drug abuse, and burnout-related suicides affecting the medical field (Sharifi et al., 2020). The intervention is to be implemented while the students in the learning institution are taught physical and well-being as part of their curriculum. Burnout is a prevalent condition conceived of as a continuous response to persistent psychological and interpersonal workplace stressors, characterized by the three components of compassion fatigue, dissociation, and a reduced sense of personal success. According to Woo et al. (2020), the World Health Organization (WHO) has lately acknowledged exhaustion as a significant problem for people’s health by classifying it as a “work-related phenomenon” in the eleventh version of the International Classification of Diseases. It is common knowledge that physicians are the employees in the medical industry that suffer the most from symptoms of burnout, which can have severe repercussions for individuals, other care providers, and healthcare organizations.
