Healthcare provision is all about communication because communication is required in all aspects of patient care, namely during patient registration, counseling, consent, and examination from a broader perspective. Communication is a healthcare administration issue because there are patients from a minority culture or who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) (Vela et al., 2016). Despite the diversity in countries such as the United States or the United Kingdom, where the English language is common, healthcare systems have failed to provide sufficient healthcare services to patients from minority cultures and those who are Limited English proficient (LEP).
Thus, it is essential to note that communication is always a dialogue between patients and healthcare providers. Effective communication is not necessarily a language but an understanding between the providers and the patients. In this regard, communication gaps are often the root cause of insufficient patient care, leading to adverse health events.
