They also confirm admitting privileges for visiting physicians, get signatures for legal consents or releases, and assign patients to beds while notifying nursing units that the patient has arrived. These same counselors help patients with discharge and connect them with necessary resources. For example, for patients who need physical therapy at home or skilled nursing after discharge, admissions counselors connect them with hospital caseworkers. They also help patients who know they will have trouble paying their bills to apply for financial assistance from the hospital. Our staff of human resources generalists works hard to recruit, screen, and recommend for hire the best possible candidates for each role.
