Critical Incident

Overview:

Hopefully, by this time in the course, you are rethinking experiences you have had during your nursing career. You are questioning why a manager was so lenient with lax employees, why a manager was so critical or unapproachable. We occasionally learn from our experiences. That is certainly our hope. But, more often than not, we learn later, when we have time to reconsider. That is what you are asked to do in this assignment.

Analyze the evolving professional nursing roles of leader/manager within a dynamic health care team
Evaluate the quality of nursing practice by using the key aspects of a quality improvement program.
Identify common nursing quality issues.
Recognize the significance of quality improvement.
Describe how evidence-based practice influences quality.
Directions
Write a 2-3 page paper describing an event you experienced involving time management, delegation, prioritization, leadership or management style, or conflict management that had an impact on patient care. This would be an incident in which the actions or events were inappropriate or ineffective.

You are to consider ways in which the problem could be resolved. Please relate this incident to the issues discussed in The Speed of Trust.

Include the following:

A description of the incident.
Possible resolutions (at least 3) and the pros and cons of each.
Supporting evidence for the resolution chosen, citing 2 sources.
