Running head: INTERVIEW AND INTERDISCIPLINARY ISSUE IDENTIFICATION Interview and Interdisciplinary Issue Identification School of Nursing and Health Sciences, Capella University NURS-FPX4010 – Leading People, Processes, and Organizations in Interprofessional Practice July, 2021 1 INTERVIEW AND INTERDISCIPLINARY ISSUE IDENTIFICATION 2 Interview summary The interview involved both the patients and employees at the organization. The primary aim is to identify the critical management, leadership, communication, and service delivery to the patients. The interview was organized through the application of Plan-DoStudy-Act (PDSA) (White, 2019).
This implies that the interviewer will answer the questions by sampling the significant areas that need deep research. However, the primary aim was to develop the basic patterns of change which will help the facility deliver better health services. As such, the report seeks to identify the potential weaknesses and threats in the
healthcare facility. Therefore, the following are the four significant areas of concern in the report. • Service delivery to the patients. • Nature of the care provided by nurses to patients.
• Communication and management issues.
• Medical practitioner’s experience and expertise. Issue identification A significant number of patients have been complaining about the overall services at the healthcare facility. Because the nature of the services is from most of the departments, it was essential for the interview to be conducted. The interview, therefore, exposed many issues that came up from the patient reviews both from the website and off the website. For example, 69% of the respondents argued that there are no better aspects of communication between the patients and the doctors. More significantly, palliative care patients had a huge role in the issues identified. Therefore, there were these factors that highly contributed to the interview being conducted. Change theories INTERVIEW AND INTERDISCIPLINARY ISSUE IDENTIFICATION 3 There are many change theories in organizational management. When a healthcare facility wants to make some changes, they have to factor in the significant impacts. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
Change theory thus plays a vital role in creating a good room for altering the current systems for a better movement. The change theory of nursing is the perfect way of implementing the noted changes from the interviews conducted in the facility. Kurt Lewin discovered this theory, thus becoming the most influential theory (White, 2019). Kurt Lewin defines behaviour as a dynamic balance of natural forces from different directions. As such, the theory is the most applicable in the nursing sector and hospital environment. More significantly, the behaviour change will imply a change in all the sections. Therefore, through the change theory of nursing, the world will come up with the best strategies for managing change, Leadership strategies The workplace environment requires a lot of ethics for better operation. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
The management department must apply strategic leadership skills, which will encourage PlanDo-Study-Act (PDSA). More especially, the doctors in charge must learn the action of the employees and their response to the solutions implemented. Thus, good leadership strategies must accommodate the change process (Bergstedt & Wei, 2020). More especially, by creating an impactful procedure in the process of creating viable solutions for the future. A lot has been developed, and there is a need for the healthcare facility to establish a good way of handling patients and clients. Hence, through the aspect of understanding both patients and employees, the big leadership challenge. Collaboration approaches In the cases of interdisciplinary actions, there is a need for the aspect of collaboration. For instance, the comparison of some organizations creates a better review of the nature of their service to clients. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
One of the best ways is by considering the ethical consideration and creating structures for change in both organizations. Research by Bergstedt & Wei (2020) has INTERVIEW AND INTERDISCIPLINARY ISSUE IDENTIFICATION affirmed that the process of collaboration in interdisciplinary actions involves creating better solutions for the future. Therefore, it is expected to solve most of the challenges they face. 4 INTERVIEW AND INTERDISCIPLINARY ISSUE IDENTIFICATION References Bergstedt, K., & Wei, H. (2020). Therefore, workers should corroborate the defined goals and objectives. Sports teams are a perfect example of how a team should work—the teamwork hand in hand to score a winning goal. Because teams are vital in organizations, workers need to have essential interpersonal skills to work together—the plan proposal outlines how the interprofessional team can corroborate to solve the issues in the organization. As mentioned in Assessment 2, some aspects that a healthcare team can collaborate on to serve better care is issue identification, change theories, leadership strategies, and collaboration approaches. Organizations comprise many teams. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
Every worker identifies with a sing group or multiple groups intending to attain a certain objective. Some teams are formed for a longterm objective. Such teams are mandated with the responsibility of running activities in an institution. Even when the task is accomplished, the team does not die. It keeps on serving the organizational interests. For example, a team of maternity nurses offer services to pregnant mothers (Buljac-Samardzic et al., 2020). After the patients leave, the team remain stable to provide services to another bunch of clients. NURS Interview & Interdisciplinary Issue Identification.
These are the collaboration approaches required to complete a particular purpose. The team should be well-formulated initially and link it with the need to achieve a particular goal. The team should be kept intact even after the first achievement for it to work on another assignment. Additionally, define the purpose of the team or conclude an issue identification to figure out the root problem. Many teams do not achieve their purpose because the purpose was not well defined at the beginning. There are complex issues and assignments in the organization that can only be achieved through the cooperation of the interprofessional team (Choi et al., 2017). Such complex issues require a mixture of skills and abilities. NURS Interview & Interdisciplinary Issue Identification.
Therefore, INTERDISCIPLINARY PLAN PROPOSAL 3 define the complex activities and the skills required to accomplish them. The interprofessional team can now be arranged into groups that suit their specialization. For example, when researching a certain disease outbreak, employ a diverse team to ensure you have the best results. Further, create an environment for the team to work. Leadership strategies must be implemented for an effective team to work in an environment that allows every team member to contribute. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
Team members need the autonomy to work and showcase their skills. The credit should go to the entire team but not an individual. For the team to execute its mandate, it should have shared values and objectives (Kash, et al., 2018). The team should sit on the drawing board and develop the beliefs and principles that keep them working together. This would lead to change theories which ultimately plays a role in in altering the current system for improvements. These are the values that will keep the team committed to a common purpose. Confidence and mutual trust should be in the bloodstream of the team. The goodwill of the team should come before individual priorities. This kind of teamwork will help in fixing the issue in the organization. A strong team is a strong cohesion. The interprofessional team form a strong unit to achieve the set goals and objective. NURS Interview & Interdisciplinary Issue Identification. NURS Interview Interdisciplinary Issue Identification
The diversity in the team is a source of competitive advantage. The different expertise can fix the organizational issue. The healthcare profession has individuals from different disciplines. All these disciplines should come together to deliver quality services to the patients. Nurses should also work as a team of professionals to help the organization to achieve its purpose. The above outline proposal will help the organization to solve its issue through a team of professions. INTERDISCIPLINARY PLAN PROPOSAL 4
