1. Select one of the four broad professional fields: environmental or evolutionary psychology, forensic psychology, health or sports psychology, or industrial/organizational or engineering psychology. Which of the four learning theories is most effective in guiding professional practice in your selected field? Identify strengths and deficiencies of using the theory you identified. (150 words response) 2. Health psychology is one of the most fascinating fields in my opinion. The professional that chooses this route can be of assistance with something as minute as helping a person obtain a new routine while quitting a smoking habit of 40 years or as important as helping someone stay positive as they battle for their life while recovering from a debilitating illness or injury. The duties of a health psychologist can be very minimal but when a person is facing a life altering adaptation the guidance of a professional that has experience can mean the difference of success or failure. While a person seeks out health psychology to assist them in learning new life routines they have the ability to utilize that time to find some source of healing and enjoyment to help them in adjusting to a new daily routine in life.Nursing Learning Theories Psychology
When one goes from a corporate 9 to 5 lifestyle to having chemotherapy 3 times a day, there may be a little depression that sets in with the realization that things may be forever altered. A health psychologist can face that realization and help the person get acclimated into a new style of life that is conducive for their recovery. It is one of the most pivotal schools of psychology in my opinion. I intend on facing the national public school board for an alteration in school curriculum with the addition of courses that strictly focus on learning to cope and adapt to emotions and situations at an early age. I feel with that ability added into life skills, the rate of teen pregnancy, abuse, addiction, and alcoholism will be reduced greatly. (150 words response) 3. By teaching individuals the key pieces of information that they need for health maintenance they are able to focus on the prevention of diseases and illnesses as well as promote good health behavior. Promoting good health mentally and physically can ensure that a person is able to perform at their highest potential and achieve the goals that have been set forth in life. Positive mental health behavior can assist with the resiliency when experiencing a major life shift or battling a life threatening illness. Having a good outlook allows a person to focus on the healing more than wallowing in self pity and doubt. Health psychology is pivotal to helping those that are having to cope and adapt with life changing situations. For most individuals the thought of battling cancer frightens them to the point of no return.
Once one is given a diagnosis and the options lead to a necessary decision requirement, a health psychologist can help one understand where they are headed next. From the choice of treatment or homeopathic options to how their lives will potentially be altered, the guidance of a professional can be the difference between a lost battle or a winning fight. Having someone that is experienced with the daily routines of a person fighting for their lives can help to lessen the load and keep the patient positive with higher resiliency toward recovery. Learning a new way to live can help life be less hectic when facing a life changing illness or debilitation. (150 words response) … Nursing Learning Theories Psychology
