I have an Evidence Based Research class research proposal draft project due – I have the needs assessment and COFT completed – I need help with the final project. The research should be on the gap between the current practices in training intern nurses and the proper techniques. The objective is to find solutions that narrow the rift and, as a result, improve the job satisfaction and retention rate of new nurses while providing the best quality of health care to patients. The precise resolution to this challenge is to establish structured training programs for new nurses that include specialty training of specific areas of medicine. Good communication and teamwork are also critical factors in ensuring the seamless transition of inexperienced nurses to the profession increasing job satisfaction.

I will include requirements, needs assessment, and COFT – the paper needs to be written from the references I will include on the COFT.

NURS3313 1 NURS3313 – Guidelines for Research Proposal Draft Project Description and Purpose: The Research Proposal Draft Project provides an opportunity for students to incorporate learning into practice. Students work individually to identify and research a problem or relevant issue they have encountered in the clinical setting. Students perform a literature review, Needs Assessment, Comparison of Findings Table (COFT), Research Proposal draft and Research Proposal presentation. Research Proposal Draft Project Part 1: Selection of Research Proposal topic approved by instructor Part 2: Needs Assessment Part 3: Comparison of Findings Table (COFT) Part 4: Research Proposal Draft Part 5: Research Presentation Summary of Steps in Completing the Assignment: 1. Select a topic and submit it to course instructor for approval by end of first class session. 2. Complete a literature search for at least 5 primary peer-reviewed research articles. 3. Complete a Needs Assessment for the topic, using the articles, in order to develop a research question or objective. See course schedule for due date/time. 4. Complete a Comparison of Findings Table (COFT) for the articles. See course schedule for due date/time. 5. Write a 6 page Research Proposal draft synthesizing the findings from the research articles, Needs Assessment, and COFT. Submit both a hard copy of the paper at the beginning of class and post a copy to Moodle. See course schedule for due date/time. 6. Develop a 15-20 minutes Research Proposal presentation highlighting the main points of the research proposal draft to be presented during the last class session. Needs Assessment: A needs assessment is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or “gaps”, between current conditions (current research and clinical practice) and desired conditions or “wants” (research proposal). 1. Identify current research and clinical practice related to the chosen topic. Describe elements of the problem as it currently exists. Be detailed enough so the problem is understood, but make sure to maintain confidentiality. Be as objective as possible – state the problem without assigning judgment to a person or organization. 2. State the desired outcome for the research proposal. 3. Specify the gap between the current and desired situations. 4. Select a solution that can close the gap. The needs assessment should be 1-2 pages long (not counting cover sheet and references), and must be formatted according to APA 6th edition standards. The needs assessment should be submitted using Moodle email. See course schedule for due date/time. NURS3313 2 Comparison of Findings Table (COFT): The COFT makes it possible to summarize and organize findings from research articles. It allows easy identification of important points in articles and determination of similarities and differences among the articles. After completing a literature search, choose at least 5 pertinent research articles, dated within the last 5 years, and complete the COFT using the provided template. Information in the table must be paraphrased, rather than quoted. Copying and pasting from the articles is not permitted. Copies of the articles saved as PDF files must be submitted through Moodle email by the due date. Research Proposal Draft: This paper demonstrates synthesis (not just a summary) of findings from the literature review, Needs Assessment, and COFT to define a research question or research objective and create a research proposal draft that could help to fill in the gaps in research on the chosen topic. Training Intern Nurses Discussion
The paper should be formatted according to the guideline sheet attached. The paper should be at least 6 pages long, with proper spelling and grammar, and be formatted according to correct APA style. The reference list must include at least 5 peer-reviewed research articles dated within the past 5 years. Copies of any articles used in the research proposal not contained in the COFT must be submitted by the due date using email on Moodle. See course schedule for due date/time. (See more detailed instructions on next page.) Presentation Requirements: The presentation provides a forum for disseminating the findings of the project. The presentation should be professional. It should include the title of the research project, the topic, background or significance of the project, a summary of research findings, identified gaps, and a summary of proposed solutions. A Reference page, which includes all resources cited in the paper and presentation, should be included with the presentation. Presenters are expected to be knowledgeable and prepared to answer questions from viewers about the topic. Presentations are done during the Week 5 class in a 15-20 minute presentation. NURS3313 3 NURS3313 Evidence for Nursing Practice Research Proposal Draft Guidelines Sheet Description The proposal is the plan for a nursing research-based project to address a problem in the clinical setting. Although proposals vary in length, depending on the problem or issue addressed, they must be at least 6 double-spaced pages long. Van Order MVNU 3313 Evidence for Nursing Practice Dr. Carol Dorough September 15, 2020 2 Needs for Extended Learning of New Nurses Introduction Newly licensed Registered Nurses make up the highest number of nurses in the medical and surgical field. They also contribute to a higher number of nurses leaving the nursing profession than retirees. The rate of turnover in new nurses within the first two years of employment is at twelve percent. The high turnover rate is a big issue to the medical institutions because it causes understaffing in hospitals. The cost of replacing each nurse who leaves is thirty percent higher than that of retaining the nurse (Blegen et al., 2017). Consequently, there is a necessity to emphasize improving the retention rates of nurses; since the solution is in improving the specific extended learning and the training of novice nurses. Transitional Stress According to researchers, new nurses have a very high level of stress due to the nature of the work. The transition from academia to the professional practicing environment is very stressful. The adaptation to a new working environment and integration into the workforce is especially hard on the new nurses. The medical and surgical units are high-pressure fields because of the high stakes involved in the treatment of patients. The new nurses also have to quickly get accustomed to death and learn how to deal with it (Johan et al., 2017). This inability to cope with this stress is the main reason for the burnout of new nurses. Research of the expectations of new graduate nurses from the nursing residency programs revealed that most expected better guidance and support from their supervisors than they received (Hajihosseini, 2018). Hospitals need to develop structured transition programs for new nurses that provide better-extended training in the provision of sufficient time for each intern nurse and their supervisor for better assessment. 3 Competency and Practical Readiness According to Kavanagh and Szweda (2017), only twenty-three percent of new graduate nurses have entry-level competency and already have practical skills. They are not prepared to work in the complex medical and surgical fields. These fields require a higher level of precision than the nurse has been prepared to handle. This leads to a higher number of medical errors and poor patient care. The incorporation of evidence-based practices into the learning process helps the novice nurses to be familiar with the medical equipment. The additional training on safety practices and specialized training is very effective in improving the competence of new nurses (Spector, 2015). Clinical Judgment Skills The just out of school nurses lack the required knowledge to make clinical judgments when handling patients. These are the skills that inform the medical decisions made by nurses over patient care. Training Intern Nurses Discussion
The inexperienced nurses make numerous patent care errors because they do not have clinical intuition (Ibrahim & Aly, 2018). There is a need for nursing residency programs to embark upon the development of a clinical reasoning model to help novice nurses develop these essential skills. The skills of clinical perception are also developed through teaching creative thinking and gaining practical experience. Conclusion This research proposal aims to examine the gap between the current practices in training intern nurses and the proper techniques. The objective is to find solutions that narrow the rift and, as a result, improve the job satisfaction and retention rate of new nurses while providing the best quality of health care to patients. The precise resolution to this challenge is to establish structured training programs for new nurses that include specialty training of specific areas of medicine. Good 4 communication and teamwork are also critical factors in ensuring the seamless transition of inexperienced nurses to the profession increasing job satisfaction. 5 References Blegen, M.
